KIDS BOLO® operates this store and website, including all related information, content, features, tools, products and services, in order to provide you, the customer, with a curated shopping experience (the "Services"). KIDS BOLO® is powered by Shopify, which enables us to provide the Services to you. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and disclose your personal information when you visit, use, or make a purchase or other transaction using the Services or otherwise communicate with us. Children's Data and Parental Consent

Because our Services are designed for children learning heritage languages, we take the privacy and protection of children’s data very seriously. This section explains how we handle children’s personal information in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) in Canada, and the UK Age Appropriate Design Code in the United Kingdom.

Information We Collect About Children

We collect only the minimum personal information about children that is necessary to provide our educational services:

•      Child’s first name — used to identify the student in class settings and progress tracking

•      Child’s age — used to place the child in an age-appropriate class group

•      Class recordings — which may include the child’s voice and video image during live classes (see Class Recordings section)

How We Collect Children’s Information

We do not collect personal information directly from children. All personal information about a child is provided by the child’s parent or guardian during the enrollment and checkout process on Shopify. Children do not create accounts, provide their own credentials, or submit personal information through our Services.

For live classes, the parent or guardian receives the class access link (via Vedamo, our class delivery platform) and is responsible for managing the child’s access to the class session. The child joins under parental supervision.

The Kids Bolo App

The Kids Bolo learning app (app.kidsbolo.com) is designed for children to use directly. The app does not require an account, login, or registration. Children may optionally enter a first name within the app for display purposes only; this name is stored locally on the device and is not transmitted to our servers.

We collect aggregate, non-personally identifiable analytics data from the app, such as the total number of users and which features are used. This data cannot be used to identify any individual child. We do not collect personal information, track individual usage patterns, or create user profiles through the app.

Parental Consent

By enrolling a child in Kids Bolo classes and completing the checkout process, the parent or guardian provides verifiable parental consent for the collection and use of their child’s information as described in this Privacy Policy. This consent includes acknowledgment of class recordings as described in the Class Recordings section.

Parents and guardians have the right to:

•      Review the personal information we hold about their child

•      Request deletion of their child’s personal information

•      Withdraw consent for further collection or use of their child’s information

•      Refuse to permit any further collection or use of the child’s information without having the child’s participation in class activities penalized

Class Recordings

All live classes conducted through our platform (for both children and adults) are recorded. These recordings are handled in compliance with applicable privacy and data protection laws.

Purpose of Recordings

•      Tutor training: Recordings are used to help new and existing tutors improve their teaching methods and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality instruction.

•      Parent and student review: Recordings may be shared with parents or students enrolled in the specific class to facilitate review and reinforcement of the material covered.

Storage and Retention

Class recordings are stored on Vedamo, our class delivery platform. We do not download or store copies of recordings separately. All class recordings are retained for a period of 60 to 90 days, after which they are permanently deleted from the platform unless required for legal or regulatory purposes.

Access and Sharing

Access to class recordings is limited to authorized Kids Bolo personnel (including tutors and administrators) and the parents or students enrolled in the specific class. While we take precautions to restrict access to authorized individuals only, we cannot guarantee that parents or students will not share recordings with others.

Unauthorized sharing, redistribution, or publication of class recordings is strictly prohibited under our Terms of Service. We encourage all parents and students to respect the privacy of all class participants by not distributing or sharing recordings outside the intended audience.

Consent to Recordings

By enrolling in our classes, you acknowledge and provide affirmative consent to the recording of all class sessions for the purposes described above. If you wish to withdraw consent for recordings, please contact us at support@kidsbolo.com. Please note that withdrawal of recording consent may affect, or remove, our ability to provide certain Services, as recordings are an integral part of our quality assurance and training processes.

Security and Retention of Your Information

Please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee "perfect security." In addition, any information you send to us may not be secure while in transit. We recommend that you do not use unsecure channels to communicate sensitive or confidential information to us.

How long we retain your personal information depends on different factors, such as whether we need the information to maintain your account, to provide you with Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes or enforce other applicable contracts and policies.
