About Us

We are Pakistani-Canadians who immigrated to Toronto in our early teens. While we grew up in Urdu speaking households, we ended up speaking to each other mostly in English. It wasn’t until we had kids that the realization hit - Urdu was going to fade away if something did not change.

Just like you..

  • We knew there are many benefits to making our kids bilingual
  • We knew that Urdu connects us to our identity and community
  • We knew that we wanted our kids to at least have a foundation
  • And we KNEW that we needed to keep Urdu alive

But YET, it was HARD. As parents whose children were born in the West, we felt our choice of relevant Urdu resources was limited. So we leveraged Masooma's graduate degree in Early Childhood Studies and created them ourselves.

We launched in late 2020 under the name “Inglish For Kids” name and published several books. Our work was even featured by organizations such as Muslims Awards for Excellence (MAX) and the American Pakistan Foundation. We sold thousands of copies and got direct feedback from hundreds of parents like you. We used your feedback to rebuild our products from scratch and relaunched as KIDS BOLO®.

Together with you, we are on a mission to empower our kids to better understand and speak Urdu through easy, fun and engaging resources such as Roman Urdu books for children, an Urdu talking pen, and Urdu Classes for kids.

We are very excited about the journey ahead, and welcome you to join us.

Thank you,

Masooma

Meet The Team

  • Diya

    Resource Coordinator
As an elementary level teacher, I've chosen to teach with Kids Bolo because I’m passionate about language acquisition. What else is better than teaching my first language to others? Currently, I teach Urdu classes at various levels particularly working with ages 5-7. My expertise lies in the beginner to mid levels, ensuring that all students starting with Kids Bolo set their confidence and base with the language. With years of professional experience working directly with kids on a virtual platform, I've honed the art of making language learning engaging and fun. A COOL fact: I live 10 minutes away from Disney World & Universal Studios (maybe that helps, too) 🏰🐭🪄

  • Masooma

    Founder & CEO
My name is Masooma and I am the founder of Kids Bolo - a business that has created Urdu’s first talking pen, 15 bilingual children’s books and Urdu Conversational Classes for both children & adults. My background and passion in Psychology and Early Childhood/Youth Studies has opened several doors for me. I have worked with children and teenagers & let me tell you - I learned the most about myself when I had the chance to interact with them. Kids Bolo is an extension of that passion and I am so happy to be creating valuable resources for my community! Besides running a business, being a wife & mom, I love hosting, the colour purple and anything coconut flavored. 💜🥥

  • Maryam

    Educational Coordinator
My inner child comes alive when I teach children! My passion has always been to create and foster playful environments for kids to grow in. Having been with Kids Bolo's Urdu classes since its inception, I have had the pleasure of teaching both beginner and advanced Urdu classes. I have met wonderful children along the way and it has been my pleasure to be a part of a team that is dedicated to bringing Urdu to the forefront. Outside of teaching and working with children (and Masooma), I love to travel, eat tacos - the really cheesy ones and play basketball. From Safaris in Kenya to snorkelling in an ocean, I hope to explore the world even more with my family! 🦒 🤿

  • Ainee

    Operations Coordinator
Hi! I’m Ainee, a member playing a tiny role in helping the Kids Bolo team with their operations. With an MS degree in Management, I thrive on making sure everything runs seamlessly. I have 3 years of experience as a lecturer and head of department in a Management Sciences University in Pakistan. After becoming a mom, I discovered my passion for developing curriculums for early years, which led me to work as a Vice Principal for Montessori/primary levels. Outside of work, I find joy in reading books, spending time with my kids and my beloved cat. I love indulging in my Urdu heritage, especially with a good plate of biryani. I’m also completely obsessed with the color purple! 💜
