Online Urdu Tutors for Kids: How We Choose and Train Our Teachers

When you look for an online Urdu tutor, you are really looking for one person: someone your child is excited to see each week. Patient, fun, fluent in Urdu, and comfortable with the English your child thinks in.

Here is how we choose, train and support our teachers at Kids Bolo, and why we think a trained teacher with a small group works better for most kids than a tutor found at random.

Relatable tutors: all Kids Bolo Urdu tutors are native Urdu speakers in the US, UK or Canada

How we choose our teachers

  • Native Urdu speakers. Fluent in English too, and comfortable moving between the two in class.
  • A degree and experience with children. Every teacher has a bachelor's degree or higher and experience working with kids.
  • Based in the US, UK or Canada. So they understand what it is like for a child growing up speaking English.
  • At home with our hybrid model. Our early levels mix English and Urdu, then move toward more Urdu as children progress.

How we train and support them

  • One shared curriculum. Every teacher uses the Kids Bolo curriculum, with slides, materials and game ideas made by our team.
  • Ongoing training. We run regular training sessions for our teachers, covering both the academic side of teaching Urdu and how to keep kids engaged and having fun online.
  • Progress you can see. Short in class assessments help teachers track progress, and you get a progress report every 3rd month with a recommendation to repeat the level or move up.
  • A team behind every class. Our team handles scheduling and admin and is your first point of contact, so teachers can focus on teaching.

Why a trained teacher in a small group beats a random tutor

What parents say about our teachers

"The classes are so organized and well thought out. The at-home activities are fun and a great way to re-inforce what they've learned. The teachers are so sweet and positive (and patient!)."

Kiran, Kids Bolo parent

"These classes are also not taught in a traditional way which can be a bit boring. It's only taught in conversation and games! I also appreciate the follow up after the class with games and sheets to continue practicing with my daughter!"

Common questions

Who are the Kids Bolo teachers?

Our teachers are native Urdu speakers based in the US, UK or Canada. Each has a bachelor's degree or higher and experience working with children.

Are your teachers comfortable with kids who only speak English?

Yes. Our classes are designed for children who are native English speakers with little or no Urdu. Lessons start in a mix of English and Urdu and use Roman Urdu, so your child can take part from the first class.

How do the teachers keep kids engaged online?

Our teachers use interactive slides, colourful visuals and activities like games, drawing and storytelling. Classes are small, so every child gets attention and plenty of chances to speak.

How will I know how my child is doing?

Teachers use short in class assessments to gauge progress, and every 3rd month you get a progress report that says whether the teacher recommends repeating the level or moving up.

What do classes run on?

Classes run live in an online classroom. You will receive all the joining details by email after you enroll.

How big are the classes?

Classes have 3 to 5 children, grouped by age: 5 to 7, 8 to 10 and 11 to 13. Adult classes for ages 16 and up also have 3 to 5 students.
