Urdu Classes for Kids in Brooklyn

Brooklyn kids hear a lot of languages on the way to school. If you want Urdu to be one they actually speak, Kids Bolo can help, with live online classes in small groups that your child joins from home.

Our teachers know your child probably speaks English with friends, at school and even with siblings. So lessons start with English and Urdu together, everything is written in Roman Urdu, and the Urdu grows as your child does.

No subway ride and no stroller on the stairs. From Kensington and Midwood to Bay Ridge and Park Slope, class starts when your child opens the laptop.

Why Brooklyn parents choose Kids Bolo

  • English and Urdu side by side. Lessons ease children in with both languages, then lean into Urdu step by step.
  • Eastern time class options. Our class pages list class times that suit families on Eastern time.
  • Small groups. 3 to 5 children per class, so nobody sits quietly at the back.
  • One less stop on the way home. Class happens at home, so it fits around school, after-school programs and everything else.
  • Script when they are ready. Children speak first with Roman Urdu. Script classes are there from age 13.

Brooklyn parent FAQ

Are the classes in person in Brooklyn?

No. All our classes are live and online, so your child joins from home with a real teacher and a small group.

Do you have class times on Eastern time?

Yes. Each class page lists the times on offer, including times that suit families on Eastern time. Times may change between terms, so check the class page for the latest.

Our apartment can get noisy. Will an online class still work?

Usually, yes. A quiet corner, a laptop or tablet with a camera and a pair of headphones go a long way, and with only a few children in each group your child still gets plenty of turns to speak.

My kids speak English to each other. Will they really speak Urdu?

With small groups and lots of turns to talk, children get used to answering in Urdu, starting with simple words and building up to sentences.

Is there anything for toddlers?

Yes. Our play-based sessions for ages 2.5 to 4.5 use songs, movement and pictures, once a week for 20 minutes.

How much do classes cost?

It is a monthly subscription rather than a term fee. Each class page shows the price, and you can cancel with 2 weeks' notice before the 1st of the month.

Who are the teachers?

Native Urdu speakers based in the US, the UK and Canada. They teach kids raised in English every week, so they know how to keep them talking.
